When your pet is ill or injured in an accident you will want to see a Vet without delay but for your pet’s general health and well being we offer regular Nurse Clinics.
Nurse Clinics are held at Station House Vets on Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s and Thursday mornings – simply call 01653 618303 to make an appointment.
Here are some of the benefits of bringing your pet to one of our Nurse Clinics:
Free Dental Check
Your pet’s teeth and gums will be checked for any problems and we’ll give you advice on brushing, dental diets and oral hygiene products.
A build-up of tartar can lead to painful gums resulting in difficulty with eating and tooth loss. If left untreated infections in the mouth can lead to a tooth root abscess that could enter the blood stream affecting the heart, liver and kidneys. To avoid any distress for your pet and more serious complications at a later date it’s advisable to have a dental check at least once a year.
Free Puppy & Kitten Clinics
These clinics prove very helpful for new and more experienced pet owners alike. We will advise you on the best diet and general care for your pet as well as answer any questions you have about neutering, vaccinations, and flea and worm prevention. As well as being better informed about the best care for your pet you’ll also receive a complimentary ‘care pack’ containing advice leaflets, food samples and toys.
Free Weight Check Clinics
Left unchecked your pet’s weight can greatly affect their general health and happiness. Obesity could cause joint and heart problems or diabetes that can result in a shortened life expectancy and quality of life.
Together we can monitor your pet’s weight adjustment progress with regular weight checks and help is provided with exercise advice, information leaflets, free food samples and money-off food coupons.
Free Flea & Worm Prevention Advice
Fleas, worms and other parasites can cause your pet great discomfort with skin inflammation and other health issues. Symptoms can be difficult to spot and prevention is far better than waiting for a problem to occur.
With so many treatments available we can help you make the right choices for your particular pet. If you prefer, we can administer treatment at the clinic to ensure the most successful protection against these unwelcome passengers!
There is nothing more distressing for a pet owner than when their cherished companion goes missing. To ensure the best chance of being quickly reunitied with your pet, ask us about microchip identification. Microchipping is a safe, permanent and inexpensive way of identifying cats and dogs. Slightly larger than a grain of rice, the microchip is inserted under the pet’s skin around the neck. Each chip has its own unique number held on a central database. If your pet is found away from home, it can be identified by any vet, dog warden or animal charity, and can be returned to you, the owner.
Other Nurse Clinic services
In addition to the services mentioned above the nurse is available to administer tablets and ‘spot-on’ treatments; post-operative checks and stitch removal as well as nail clipping at a reduced rate. The nurse is very knowledgable about the different kinds of insurance policies and will be happy to help you find the best policy for your pet.
If you have any concerns about your pet that doesn’t require immediate medical treatment a friendly chat with the nurse will either offer you welcomed reassurance or a referral to the Vet for further investigation.
